Beautiful Val St Lambert crystal lamp

Spectacular table lamp signed Val Saint Lambert. This hand-made piece is made in the 1960s by the most prominent crystal manufacturer in Benelux, official supplier to H.M. the King of Belgium. Signed on the bottom, "Val St. Lambert". Still has the original label. The piece is in a very good condition. History of Val St. Lambert: In June 1826, smoke was rising from the chimney of the Cistercian abbey in Seraing, near Liège: the first furnace of the Val Saint Lambert Crystal Works had just been fired up. Val Saint Lambert would rapidly emerge as the epicentre of the Belgian crystal industry. For all the preconditions for a successful industry were met: the vicinity to the Meuse, a coal-rich region, a rail network, and even the enormous monastery facilities, which were ideally suited for artistic and craft activities on a large scale. The end of the 19th century ushered in a golden age for Val Saint Lambert. The site around the former abbey expanded into an impressive village with more than 180 worker dwellings, with small gardens, a school, a shop, and even a hospital. In the crystal works, by now world famous, some 5,000 employees produced 120,000 unique crystal creations each day. World War I brought an abrupt end to the expansion. Several key markets disappeared: the Balkans, the Russian tsars and Germany. The great depression of 1929 and the bombardment of World War II meant a further decline for the crystal works. This situation lasted up to the 1960s and 1970s, before two major innovations breathed new life into Val Saint Lambert: the introduction of the diamond disc for better cutting and engraving, and the replacement of the traditional pot furnace by a bath furnace, which melted solid raw materials into liquid glass. From the 1970s the company’s history is marked by several restructurings and takeovers. Today, the Val Saint Lambert Crystal Works are in the hands of the Onclin family, which aspires to reinstate the brand on a global level. Source: val-saint-lambert.com

Original Danish GE-290 Lounge Chairs by Hans Wegner for Getama, 1953, Set of 2

Stilish pair of GE-290 lounge chairs designed by Hans Wegner for Getama in 1953. Hans J. Wegner (1914-2007) is considered one of the most influential and representative designers of the Mid-Century Modern mouvement - an era that forever it has changed the way people look at furniture. The armchairs benefited from a complete professional restoration, which managed to highlight the classic forms of Danish design, the avant-garde of Mid-Century design. The honey-colored Danish oak frame has been carefully refurbished down to the smallest detail and preserved the original springs, which are in very good condition. The armchairs have been reupholstered with a light beige cotton blend Aquaclean fabric so that the wood and upholstery should work together to highlight the blonde wood's beauty but also the lovely fabric. The stain-free Aquaclean Technology is a fabric protection system for liquids and stains, based on in-house technology developed to provide a waterproof barrier for fabrics while preserving their breathability as well as the pleasant sensation to the touch. Designed as aesthetically pleasing but also very comfortable, this distinguished pair of armchairs will surely be a real eye-catcher and mood maker!

Petre Velicu, Arlechin, pastel, 40×32 cm, signed lower left with black

Petre Velicu was born in 1950 in Bucharest and studied art at the Institute of Fine Arts Nicolae Grigorescu with Gheorghe Șaru. Beneficiary of the Theodor Aman scholarship, granted by the Bucharest City Hall until 1980, begins, after this date, to participate in group exhibitions (Orizont galleries, Atelier 35, Simeza gallery). He also exhibits abroad - Bulgaria, Switzerland, China, and, since 1990, he has settled in France where he participates in the Paris Autumn Show. He opens many personal exhibitions at: Sébastien Art Center in Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer and Carrousel du Louvre in 1996, France's Bastion in Porto Vecchio in 1999, Manege Royal in Saint Germain en Laye in 2000 and 2002, Fine Art Gallery in 2002. The surrealist universe of the painter seems to have the same origin as that of Stefan Câlția, Mircea Ciobanu or Ana Ruxandra Ilfoveanu - populated by timeless characters who borrow from the symbolism and mystery of the medieval carnival, stuck in precious attitudes, on neutral backgrounds that deconstruct them.
