Scandinavian Modern table lamp by Uno & Osten Kristiansson for Luxus Vittsjö, Sweden, 1970s

    ,
Iconic table lamp for Mid Century Scandinavian design, designed in the early 70's by the Uno & Östen Kristiansson brothers for Luxus Vittsjö, Sweden. The stylized beech wood pedestal provide a simple and extremely elegant design that emphasizes the expressiveness of the wood fibers and which continues with a conical acrylic light dispenser, which supports the imposing original linen lampshade. The elegant silhouette of the light dispenser makes it possible to use the lamp without lampshade, depending on the interior design and the user's preference. The lamp generates a warm and comfortable light, which predisposes to relaxation and good mood. Both the wooden pedestal and the light dispenser are marked with the manufacturer's brand. The lamp is in excellent vintage condition, with all the original components, including the linen lampshade (there are few cases in which it can still be found, especially in perfect condition!) Dimensions: Wood pedestal: height 44 cm, diameter 11 cm Light dispenser: height 24 cm, diameter 32 cm Shade: height 30 cm, diameter 38 cm Electrics: Cord length: 200 cm; Cable-mounted switch; Lightbulb Socket(s): 1 x Edison Screw (E27 or ES), max.60W bulb (not included) Even if the lamp perfectly work it is a vintage item, so we recommend that it be checked by a specialist before use. Exquisite Fulani young women ebony carved sculpture, Guinea, 1960s

    ,
Absolutely stunning Guinean hand-carved ebony wood bust of a Fulani woman made during Mid-Century. The Fulani are a West African nomadic ethnic group. The ebony wooden carving details the intricate plaiting representing the traditional amazing hairstyles of the West African Fulani woman. The details of this hairstyle are depicted in vintage pictures. This is a rare and beautiful work of art through which the craftsman represents the beauty of the female form with the exceptional use of the chisel. President John F. Kennedy received in 1961 a similar bust of a Fulani woman from the Minister of the State for the Republic of Mali, a sculpture that is currently at JFK Library. The well-studied proportions, the attention paid to the smallest details, the overall artistic quality of the composition, and even the aged cracks present in the wood structure are as many signs of authenticity that make the difference between this decorative work of art and those made today.

In horology, the anchor escapement is a type of escapement used in pendulum clocks. The escapement is a mechanism in a mechanical clock that maintains the swing of the pendulum by giving it a small push each swing, and allows the clock's wheels to advance a fixed amount with each swing, moving the clock's hands forward. The anchor escapement was so named because one of its principal parts is shaped vaguely like a ship's anchor. A video recording with the clock in function mode is available on request.

Pair of Gemla Möbler chairs made in Sweeden, in the 1980

Pair of Swedish Gemla Mobler chairs. The structure and the armrests - made of curved wood - give a natural, organic and pleasant shape. This is completed in a beautiful way by the wool upholstery, in a shade of green that is specific for the Mid-Century furniture. This chairs can fit any nice interior, having the ability to create a warm atmosphere in the room. The chairs are in very good shape with only few age-related traces. At Helge River in Diö, in the heart of the old forests of Småland, lies Sweden's oldest furniture factory (founded in 1861). Its inner sanctum, beech and ash are tamed into time- less furniture by skilled craftsmen who know which way the wood likes to bend. Stretching and flexing, easing and teasing, until the steaming hot wood finds its form. And the wood will not be rushed. The transformation from log into chair takes days, sometimes even weeks. The technique has been used by boat and fence builders since ancient times but was refined in the mid 1800's by Thonet into the iconic chair, worn my millions of seats in the cafés of Europe. The shape is determined by the best and the brightest of their time. Back then their names were Peter Celsing, Yngve Ekström, Sigurd Lewerentz and Carl Malmsten. Now they are Jonas Bohlin, Front, Lisa Hilland and Mats Theselius.
